Email addresses collected on our platform are utilized solely for the transmission of ecards via email, unless you opt to track them.

By default, email addresses are temporarily stored in our database until the successful transmission of the ecards. While the majority of emails are sent instantaneously, senders may opt to schedule their email transmissions for future dates, in which case we retain the email addresses until the scheduled date, after which the email addresses are removed from our database. Our platform allows senders to schedule email transmissions up to 60 days in advance.

Please note that we do not track email addresses, except when sender/recipient email tracking is activated by the user. In such instances, the email addresses may be stored and exported by the user for a maximum period of 90 days. However, it is pertinent to reiterate that email tracking is deactivated by default.

Our email service providers, Sendgrid and Postmark, maintain email logs for delivery purposes only. It is noteworthy that Postmark expunges email addresses from their logs after 45 days of email transmission, while Sendgrid deletes them after 30 days.

Because you can’t embed a video in an email, we don’t support video upload. However, you can upload a video thumbnail (maybe with a play button icon in the middle), then link it to the video on your website so when the recipient receives the ecard, they can click the video thumbnail to watch the video.

Yes, you can add your eCardWidget to your DonorPerfect giving flow.

To add this to your DonorPerfect form follow the steps below:

1. Go to your widget share code page and copy the url, underlined in the screenshot below:

2. Then copy the following code and edit ” your_embed_url = ‘…’ ” and paste in that URL you copied to replace PASTE_HERE – It should then look like this:

Custom domain for sending emails

Currently when a recipient receives an email they will see that it is from the sender’s name, ie Bob. However the email displayed will say ecard@ecardwidget.com. You can change the domain so that it use your custom domain, ie ecard@yourcustomdomain.com. To do this, simply login and add a custom email domain in your settings.Click here for complete instructions.

When a recipient receives an email, we provide a link for them to view the ecard on our website incase they can’t see it. Because we host the ecard, it uses our domain, ie ecardwidget.com/ecard/123. If you add your own custom domain, your ecard URL would look something like this:

To setup follow these instructions:

1. First, login to your domain registrar account and go to the DNS management area.

2. Add a new CNAME record.

3. Set the CNAME Name to your subdomain. For instance, if you your custom domain is ecards.mydomain.com, you would set the CNAME Name to: “ecards”.

4. Set the CNAME Value to: domain.ecardwidget.com

5. Save your name CNAME record. Note: It may take time for your new record to propagate.

6. Login to your account at EcardWidget.com and go to account settings and set your “Custom domain” and click Save.7. Now you test it out by sending an ecard and checking the URLs.⛔️ Warning: If your DNS isn’t configured correctly, the widget and “View in Browser” link will be broken for recipients.

Technically there are no max dimensions for the upload but if the height or width go over 1500 pixels, we automatically resize and compress the images down. For best quality we would recommend avoiding the resizing.

Now that only applies when you directly upload an image.

If you are using the ecard design tool, the dimensions are always 800 x 600 pixels.

However you can change the address to something that fits your brand better, for example, ecard@yourbusiness.com.

How to setup your custom vanity email address

We use Sendgrid.com and PostmarkApp.com for email delivery.

To allow Sendgrid and Postmark to send email on behalf of your custom email address, you will need to update your DNS records to verify that you won the domain used in your email address.

To get started login and click the top right menu. Then click “Settings”.Then set your Vanity Email address and click save. The DNS records will be displayed. Make sure you add the new DNS records and make sure that your DNS status is Verified.

How does it work? How do I add it to my store?

Yes, we have a Shopify app! We’ve provided a video demo, along with instructions for attaching it to a product for purchase or adding it to a public page to be shared by your website visitors for free.

These instructions will show you how to add an ecard to your Shopify store pages using an embed code. Once you get this app installed, we’re going to create an ecard, and then we’re going to add it to your Shopify store. It’s a very quick and easy process.

Step 1. Login and create your eCard Widget

After you’ve installed the app, you need to Register or Login before you will be able to create your ecard.

Step 2. Design your ecard and then save and preview it

After logging in you will land on the ecard creation page where you can make your very first card.

Just upload your ecard image.

Let’s go ahead and click Save and preview. Bam! You just made your first ecard.

Step 3. On the preview page, get the embed code or attach to your product

Your ecard has been created, it’s ready to go to be published. Right now it’s not published, it’s only available to us in your dashboard. But to publish it to your Shopify Store you have 2 options. You can attach it to your product using the product selection box or you can copy and paste the html embed code to pages within your store:

To get do this, click the “Add to Shopify” tab in the preview modal.

If you want the widget to show up after your product is purchased, then use the product search to find and attach it to your products and click save. You’re done. Go try it out on your store by purchasing the product, you will be able to send the ecard from the order confirmation/thank you page after checkout.

Or to add it to your pages on your store, copy the HTML Code from the textarea, we’ll need it shortly. And this tab gives us the embed code, which we’re going to paste into Shopify as custom HTML block, there’s a section you can add that allows you to paste HTML.

Step 4. Add your new ecard to your Shopify Homepage

Adding eCard Widget using Shopify’s page builder requires a few extra steps so we put together a special video guide to make it easy to setup.

Step 5. Add the ecard to your Shopify Pages, Blog Posts, and Product Pages

You can follow the video guide for this as well or just follow these simple instructions:

We’ve added it to your theme to the homepage. But if you wanted to add it to a blog post or a page, it’s a similar process. Let’s just go ahead and add it to a page. On the page, you have an editor, it’s the same thing on blog posts. And there’s a little button “<>” that says “Show HTML”. Click on it and paste the HTML embed code you copied earlier. Go ahead and click save and now go view your page, make sure that the ecard showing up.

You can use the same instructions to add the ecard to blog posts and product pages too.

Step 6. That’s it! Visitors will now be able to view and send the ecard from your website

Q: Can customers send e-cards to multiple recipients with eCardWidget? A: In pre-checkout mode, customers can send an e-card to one recipient. In post-purchase mode, you can set a limit on the number of recipients or allow unlimited sending, depending on your preference.

Q: Do customers own the e-cards they purchase, and can they resend the cards at a later date? A: Customers do not own the e-cards in their collection but can resend the e-card to the allowed number of recipients at a later date.

Q: How does the email limit in the pricing guide work? A: The email limit refers to the total number of emails sent using the widget, not the number of e-cards sold. For example, in the free plan with a limit of 15 emails per month, if a customer sends an e-card to 15 recipients, it would reach the maximum for your account and emails would be disabled until the next month.

Q: Is it possible to set up a single product page for a card design with both pre-checkout and post-purchase options as variants? A: Currently, eCardWidget does not support setting up both options as variants within a single product page. Q: If a customer purchases a card with a maximum of 25 sends, can they come back and send more after reaching the limit? A: Yes, once a customer reaches the sending limit, it will reset the next day, allowing them to come back and send more. This is because the browser session used to track sends resets each day.

It’s not necessary for them to have a website account, as the link will grant them access to the widget on the confirmation page.

We have a chain of delivery that is meant to ensure (as much as possible) that emails are delivered. When an email is sent, we attempt to send through a service called Postmark, they are the leading email sending service in the industry. If they are unable to deliver the email, then we fall back to Sendgrid which is another leading email deliverer.

Then if that fails we will try back to sending the email using our own server which almost never happens. In addition to the services we use to deliver, our email template is simple and optimized to satisfy the majority of spam filters.

Via Email

When sending an ecard, add a recipient then press the blue “Add” button next to it. You will then be able to add more recipients.

Once you’ve added multiple, you can view the list of people you have added to send the ecard to by clicking on the top right “recipients”

Via Social Media

Click the “Share” tab and select which social media platform you would like to share your card to.

NOTE: Each social media platform has is own limitations and way of handling sharing. Add a personal message, click send, then on the final step, you can tag your friends or followers.

You can also copy, view and print, download the card, or just copy a direct link to the card and share it any way you’d like!

Let’s get started by following this guide

You can use eCard Widget to add ecards to your website regardless of the platform. We support everything from WordPress to Shopify to simple HTML. We also offer a hosted page, so you don’t even need to have a website. You can link to them from social media, newsletters, or anywhere else.

Step 1. Login or Register for a free account

After you’ve installed the app, you need to Register or Login before you will be able to create your ecard.

Step 2. Design your ecard and then save and preview it

After logging in, you will land on the ecard creation page, where you can make your very first card.

On this page you will see, two options to the left, you can either upload an image, so you just pick an image off your computer and upload it, it can be an animated GIF, can be a JPG, PNG, any of those file types, and there’s really no set dimension, you can have it very tall and a long ecard, or short and simple.

Or you use the ecard designer tool. You can totally customize the card, change the background, font, add clip art, etc. You can set a greeting, details, email subject, customize the layout, etc. Furthermore, you can link this image back to your website, your business website, or wherever you want. Set the details, you could add additional details, especially if this was like an invitation, and you needed to give more info about it.

Click Save and preview. Bam! You just made your first ecard.

Step 3. On the preview page, click the share tab and copy the shortcode

Your ecard has been created. Right now it’s not published, it’s only available in your dashboard. But to publish it to your website, you click the “Add to Website” tab on the preview page.

And this tab gives us the HTML embed code, you can paste on the page you want the widget to show up on. This works on every website platform. You can also use our free apps available for WordPress and Shopify that make this easier.

After adding the embed code to your page, click save and go view your page, your ecard widget should now be showing up on your page.

Step 4. That’s it! Visitors will now be able to view and send the ecard from your website

You can log email addresses that are sent through your widgets. You can configure it to log the sender email address and/or the recipient email addresses.
Not only that, but you can also add an opt-in checkbox and require users to check it in order to send the ecard. Alternatively, you can make the checkbox optional and if not checked, you can exclude their email address from being logged.
How to turn on email logging
To enable the feature simply login and go the settings page. Scroll down to the “Email Logging Options” and configure the options there.

Accessing Logged Emails
To access the logged emails go to the widget you’d like to see logged emails for and click the “Email Logs” tab. You can filter, sort, and download via CSV.

Using the API and Zapier
You can also use our API to access the logged emails.
Alternatively you can use our Zapier integration to log emails directly to Google Sheets, MailChimp, your own API, and anywhere else.

While we don’t currently offer official support for WooCommerce, you can create a custom implementation yourself. This would likely require you to embed the widget at the end of your current payment process. You can use it with WordPress. WooCommerce has a plugin available called Custom Thank You Pages that allows you to customize the Thank You page. When you customize the Thank You page, just add the shortcode for the ecard that you want the customer to be able to send.

We do offer an official Shopify App and we also offer integrated Stripe payment support to accept payments for eCards.

In addition to that we also offer a built in ability to charge for ecards, simply login to your account, edit your widget and go to the “Ecommerce” tab to get started.

Our ecard template is simple by design and follows this rule but html added by you may be an issue. It is recommended to run your email through a email analysis test tool to make sure everything looks good.
